Lets Get Sketchy and DT CALL

Using Lets Go Sketchy.. sketch below I designed this layout above. It was great to work with that allowed for lots of creativity and room for lots of options... a great sketch.
My page has lots of layers, a border, homemade medallion flowers in a cluster of accents. Lots of fun corrugated cardboard, twine, metal accents, ribbon, brads, great key accent and sticker title. I inked the edges to pop the pieces and matted photos. The background had a great sculpted edge.
Papers are from My Mind's Eye Lost and Found "Union Square".

I am sure you like what you see.. so visit Lets Get Sketchy, a brand new sketch site! As scrappers we all LOVE sketches, it takes a lot of the pain out of scrapping! So they decided to create a sketch site for that purpose and need your help.

So to get started they are looking for a few talented and creative scrappers to be on their design team. If you like sketches then this is the site for you! They are looking for a design team AND and sketch team. Your terms would run March 1st through Sept. 1st.

Check it out at Lets Get Sketchy.
It should be fun and exciting using their sketches for two projects per month – their challenges go live the 1st and 15th of each month starting in March.
Tell them Bev send you....

Scrapfit #23, Weaving Tutorial

Scrapfit Weekend Warm Up #23... Use Kraft Cardstock.
Well that is easy.. and I love the look of Kraft.

With this super page I also did a Tutorial about Weaving at My Sketch World for January where I am the Video Tutorial DT. I love sharing some of the things I do monthly with you.

Weaving is a method of fabric production in which two distinct sets of yarns or threads are interlaced at right angles to form a fabric or cloth. The other methods are knitting, lace making and felting. The longitudinal threads are called the warp and the lateral threads are the weft or filling. The method in which these threads are inter woven affects the characteristics of the cloth.

All these pages show you that there are many different patterns to give unique and amazing designs.

Some are more involved and take more concentration with the row changes but look how fabulous they look when weaved.
Well I am so glad you could join me, Bev today. I thought with all the talk of the New Year, resolutions etc and also so much talk of using up some of last years stash...... what a better way to use scrap than to slice those pieces into strips and weave them. And then the next thing is how would you use them on a layout page?
Lucy Chesna's Design Layout Sketch above for January 2012 had border clusters on top right and left bottom. Well instead I thought we'd try some weaving in each of these corners.

So starting with scraps that are cut into equal pieces I glued just the edge to the outer edge of background piece.
Then doing the easiest of the weaves 1st row under and over and 2nd row over and under... I continued this pattern repeatedly until I had enough to fill the corner.

I then did the other corner too. The outer edges looked great just being left at staggered lengths. I glued the outer sections down . The center section was held very tight by the weaving.

From there I added the main photo with circular accent and extra inked matting for colour.

So now the fun part.. adding all the extra strips, accents, flowers, buttons, some twine added to some flowers, a couple cute butterflies and finished it off with stamped corners and some stitching in the corners.
As you can see a plain Ktaft cardstock background with weaving added so much colour, texture and dimension to the page and I used up some stash too.
I would love to see you make a project using weaving of that stash. It would also be great if you would some of the other patterns from above.

Terrifically Thrilling Thursday

DSCF2218

Hi ... it's Terrifically Thrilling Thursday.. so glad your here today. It is amazing that one punch can make so many different but fabulous impressions on a page. The only Kreaxions Punch I used was #303 but with such different impact. The main border is regular full punch.

DSCF2219

And the background accent paper for the cluster of flowers I made is the same punch with the B insert.

The little tab accents are full punched and cut apart.. and so easy.
DSCF2221

And I have to share a close up of my clustered flowers.... grabbed a few loose flowers and pinched them into somewhat organized bunch... then twisted some of the wires around to hold them together.. then cut off some of the excess wire at the bottom keeping them all the same length. Using a thin ribbon in great length.. you start from the top leaving enough length to tie a bow when done.... wrap down the stem and back up to the top again where you now tie your bow.

Sure had fun sharing with you today.. and hope to see you again.. hugs Bev JI DT

A Sweet Blog Award

A SWEET BLOG AWARD

How nice to start the day with an award...thank you so much Lee Anne who gave me the Liebster blog award today!

"Liebster”is a German word meaning dearest, beloved or favorite, and the Liebster Award is sort of a chain letter among bloggers that’s intended to showcase exceptional up-and-coming blogs (typically, those with 200 or fewer followers). There’s no evaluation committee or formal award process for the Liebster, but in a way it’s even nicer – it’s recognition that a peer has noticed and appreciated your hard work.

Here are the rules:

Choose 5 up and coming blogs of fewer than 200 followers to award the Liebster to.

Show your thanks to the blogger who gave you the award by linking back to them.

Post the award on your blog. Link back to the blogs you have given the Liebster to so everyone else can pay them a visit.

And, now I am sharing and passing on the award to five wonderful blogs that I'm sure you will want to stop by for a visit...
Majo
Lisa M
Ginni
Lisa

There are many many more fantastic scrapbooking blogs I follow that deserve an award, but alas, I must follow the rules!

And now I shall go shopping for a sparkly gown and tiara....to wear at the Liebster Award Ceremony :) Look out red carpet...here I COME!

Terrifically Thrilling Thursday, My Sketch World, Memorible Seasons, My Scraps and More

Just Imagine Crafts and Kreaxions Punches finish off a layout page with class and the perfect touch. #922 with and with and without insert A... and even the fall away piece made for a great border and the circle accent....especially with the fountain like water punch for this fishing page.

In the close up you see the punched circle, the full punched border and and fall away piece. How many punches do you know that can do all that in one... Well remember the name Kreaxions Punches purchased at Just Imagine Crafts.

The fabulous Page Maps sketch is hosted by Memorable Seasons day 11 of sketchathon. It was perfect for the layout Gone Fishing above.
Now why all the titling, subtitling and quotes... WELL My Sketch World had an amazing 15 part tutorial by Kristin called "Intitled". It was amazing and informative with all kinds of titling ideas for our pages. Also My Scraps and More had a Quote Challenge so with this all in mind I went with the quote "What a day for a day dream. It's one of those days for takin' a walk outside."
What better thing to do outside .. fishing. On this page I added some fun blue gel water dots, twine, lots of titling and quotes and cricut cut gone fishin with a fish.
NOW I think that is the best multi task page I have ever done.. and I love it and all the elements.

Scrapbook Challenges, Cookin' Up Creations

Scrapbook Challenges has weekly sketches .. today was the #278 reveal by the team.. be sure to check it out.. but now about my page. This is a very old family photo and i grabbed the Bella Boutique pad of paper. I sewed and gathered lace for the border, punched an elegant border, made a handmade medallion flower and added many layers to it, ribbon and a double butterfly.
I added a cute corner and the title for a truly fab page. It definitely needed some pearls and bling which was a perfect touch and also worked right into the Cookin' Up Creations Sunday Inspirational Challenge on Jan. 8th to be inspired by bling. Can't tell how much fun it is to multi task and get all my projects done during the month.

Cookin' Up Creations, My Scraps and More

January at Cookin' Up Creations has a monthly scraplift.. and today's reveal is using the fabulous page below by Natalia. Full of fun bold bright colours and great design made it so easy to be inspired. My page above is full of fun elements, corrigated cardboard accents, flowers from prima in the clusters and layers, bling, circle cluster, twine, sticker title, tag. Also the quote "Time is the most precious thing you own" is Lisa at My Scraps and More January Challenge which included spending time with family and also where we are using up our stash too.
Both challenges worked well together.

Scrapfit, Cookin' Up Creations and Scrapbook Challenges

On Scrapfit the Workout #60 is It's the Simple Things. At Scrapbook Challenges Blog Hop Challenges this weekend I hosted the Theme Challenge and my challenge at Cookin' Up Creations or Focus Friday where the month of January is Scrap your Stash I used the Theme and stash part of the challenge. The Clan is perfect for all these multi tasked challenges.
For this I choose lots of stash vintage heritage items and printed the very old photo in black n white. It is an amazing family photo that is precious because of who is in it and also that it is old when not too many photos are available... therefore so special. Fun items like lace, metal, pearls, rope and buttons and made it perfect. A touch of doodling and the title and i have my heritage page that is a simple pleasure.
