We Scrap July Vanity Fair Kit and Cookin' Up Creations July Challenge

The We Scrap July Vanity Fair Kit is amazing.. so glad that I ordered it.

I still have enough paper to do a card yet...

The colour combo was great to work with and the accents are perfect.

Also with multi tasking I was able to use Cookin' Up Creations Sketchy Saturday July 23rd where the sketch was #164 at Creative Scrappers by Jill Sarginson. It was perfect for the 1st layout and the twist was to distress which I did also.

Terrifically Thrilling Thursday and Multi Photo Layouts AND Cookin' Up Creations

IMG_4279
Hi.. hope your starting out your Thursday on the right foot.

Today I'd like to talk about those celebrations that have so many fun photos and how do you get alot of photos on a layout without looking aweful. Well I think when you use borders and dividing lines it works fabulously... So on this layout I did just that... with punched accents.

On the left border I backed the photo and edged the right side with Kreaxions Punch #305. That pulled those 3 photos together.

Then with the fall away piece on the bottom right I added a forest green strip to pop that piece and separate 2 more photos... and added pj Party letters.

The banner made using Kreaxions Punch #304 separates the bigger backed photo.

If you notice I used forest green to punch backgrounds to pop them off the page.

Sure hope you like this multi photo layout tip and dust off those punches to give your page a fabulous look... hope you have a great day.. hugs Bev

Also with my multi tasking I used this layout at Cookin' Up Creations where the challenge was to use the new Bakers Twine on your project.. so the banner using bakers twine a perfect match.

Cookin' Up Creations Friday Focus & We Scrap Challenge

Sure hope you all love corrigated shapes and letters.. whether they are bought, created by running through a crimper or even scoring with your cutter.

This month at Cookin' Up Creations we are celebrating TV or DVD MOVIES.

Today I chose "baby einstein" discovering shapes. So appropriate for my varigated cardboard boughten shapes... stars, scalloped frames, arrow and tag... along with my homemade title which I cut with cricut then ran through my crimper. They are so cute on this all boy layout.

Here is my close up of the homemade title.

Also when making this layout I used the We Scrap July challenge by Sue.. she supplied us with a sketch and it was perfect for this layout.. it all came together beautifully... at least I love it.

Be sure to check out all the other amazing things going on at these sites.. amazing design and inspiration by DT and all the members are fabulous. Hope you have a great weekend.

Practical Scrappers - Brown is the new Black

For this challenge "Brown is the new Black" I used a Dollar Store canvas, added

lots of brown paint with a touch of cream and burgundy accent paint. In the lower right corner I powder heat embossed a design. With this background done I then got my paper which I ripped and inked, added a punched border, glossy accents some of the accents, added prima flowers and pearls with stones flourish and my gramma's antique car photos to finish it off.. the lizzy car.

It was perfect... what a great challenge.

Practical Scrappers wrote:
"At first mention, the color brown may seem boring, but brown is really one of the greatest colors around if you ask me. Just think creamy chocolate, rich coffee, smooth latte...Brown works as a great neutral, holding it's own beside white or black as a base color, without the harshness black can sometimes add to a project. Brown is warm and comforting, natural and calming, and works with just about everything. Think about a light blue and brown color combo, or apple green and brown, bubblegum pink and brown etc.
Have a look at some of these fabulous brown projects, and I'm sure you'll be swayed to add a bit of brown into your next project. "

Be sure to skip on over and check what everyone did... it's amazing.. I even saw my friend Christa Uttley submitted and entry.. yeah Christa.

We Scrap July Challenge

BIRTHDAY RECIPE CHALLENGE
This is a recipe challenge where you cook up a layout.
Start with the base: 4 patterned papers (cardstock is optional) and add a title

THEN:Use your birthday to find the rest of your ingredients!
Find your birth month to see how many photos to include on your page:
January, April, July, October – 1 photo
February. May, August, November – 2 photos
March, June, September, December – 3 photos

Use your birth date to see what embellishments you need to use. For example, if your birthday is on the
18th, you would use chipboard and rub ons. If your birthday is on the 1st – 9th, use a 0 in front of it (as
in 01 - 09). For example, if your birthday is on the 2nd, you would use 0 and 2 – ribbon/trim/lace and
flowers.
1 – chipboard
2 – Flowers
3 – buttons
4 – Stickers
5 – bling
6 – ribbon/trim/lace
7 – Brads
8 – rub ons
9 – tags
0 – borders

What decade you were born in determines what technique you use on your page:
30s (or earlier) – painting
40s – stitching
50s – distressing
60s – punches
70s – stamping
80s – Inking
90s (and later) – misting

My birthday is February 8, 1951 so I used 2 photos, borders plus rubons, distressing... 4 patterned papers, rubon title... you can use more elements along with the maditory ones.. can't wait to see your Recipe and finished layout.

This month I lifted this challenge idea from my friend Sherri... I had so much fun playing along

with her that I thought you'd like it too.

Be sure to play along at WeScrap.. ballots for projects completed each month.

And lots of fabulous inspiring layouts by DT and other members.

Sassy Lil Sketches July 2011

I have been scrapping so much that I wandered over to

Sassy Lil Sketches and grabbed some of Cherie's fab sketches.

I also used 2 of July sketches to put together and make this fun double.

Not only did I experiment with fabulous fun BUTTON FLOWERS

(with the tutorial below) but also this sketch had a dotted line forming a circle

and one of the newest of the Sew Easy Tool designs was a petal style .

It was perfect and makes an amazing circle border.

Here is the 2 skeches put together into an amazing double page layout

Terrifically Thrilling Thursday and XOXO and MSW

Thought it would be fun to multi task again so I could not only do my

Just Imagine Crafts / Kreaxions weekly project but also play along with my friends

over at XOXO.. so I scraplifted Lisa Watson. Love the simplicity of her lift

and it worked with page 2 of my double for the summer layout.

Also Jen at My Sketch World's July Challenge had WATER theme.

This is really working out fabulously .. a 3 in 1.

Using the Kreaxions Punch #922 reminded me of a water cascade.. so it was perfect on the

border. Backed it with red through the black.. it's very dark but I love it.

Here is the 2 pages put together...

Shutterfly.. and Weddings

Shutterfly is becoming very popular... and I have been using it.

I have been making albums of my scrapping pages so when I give them

all away I have a copy for myself. It is an amazing way to preserve my work.

Today however there was a promo for a 12x12 book at 50% off

and what a great way to save some of the boys Wedding photos.

Shutterfly also has a link to share and embed the project on here to share ... so here it

is for any of you that would love a peek.
