Shabby is Chic Boutique DT Call Project

Welcome to my blog today. I am super excited to share my project that is special made for the Shabby is Chic Boutique design team call. I had a chance to visit their FB store and OMG amazing fun beautiful products. It would be amazing to design for them and get to share with all my follows here and on FB feeds.

Supply List:

Paper: Blue Fern Studio Serendipity Collection Merriment

Lace: Venice 1 3/4", crochet lace

Border Ribbon: Lemon Craft

Accents: Unique Doily, Gem stones

Die: Memory Box Square Links, Baptisa

Chipboard: 7 Dot Studio

Flowers: Wild Orchid

Leaves: Mulberry green paper

Ink: Tim Holtz ranger

Punch: Martha Stewart

Other: metal accent, beads, cardstock, ribbon, stickles

Instructions:

1. To start this layout we will be pulling 3-5 coordinating with about 3 print and 2 cardstock options.

2. We are going to hand rip the top and bottom of main sheet to add a ripped cardstock accent and then layer again with another coordinating print. Be sure to ink the edges for a pop of colour and depth in your project.

Below is the top and bottom border layers complete.

3. Now we will estimate photo location and cut a coordinating print for behind. Ink the edges. (none of this is glued down yet)

4. Now the fun part.. pull from your stash the accents that you might want to use plus a few extra for last minute changes. I chose some big floral lace, some small thin line lace, bling, border lace, chipboard title "The Story" and the word "Love", a doily, some brads, ribbon, a stick pin, and a metal accent. This is just for starters. I position them in estimate space until I like the look. I also took a 2nd sheet of print that matched the base and fussy cut the butterflies to ink and pop up over the original ones.

5. At this point you will see in the photo above some die cut accents cut in my Big Shot Express and a large circle cut with my Kreaxions Circle cutter. I punched a few paper flowers too.

6. Now just for reference take a photo to refer back to about the placement of things.

7. Remove all the extra accents. At this point I also decided that the photo need a very thin double matt in white and pink.

8. Now start gluing down the main background pieces working your way from the back to the front layer.

Here is a closer view of some of the layers you just glued down.

9. In this section (the upper right corner) I fussy cut the piece from the double print paper, added the piece of lace and then the metal accent. It was then popped up over the main paper.

Here is a side view.. be sure to ink the edges and look at the depth it adds to your project.

10. Here are the fussy cut butterflies with edges inked ready to glue to the page.

11.  I thought I'd be adding this chipboard to this page so I used liquid pearls to cover the word.

Here it is done and set aside to dry. (never did end up using it LOL but it was ready)

12. I wanted more butterflies so I punched this one twice.. bottom with cardstock and top one with a glitter paper. You glue the cardstock one down flat on the page and bend the wings of the glitter one up leaving the centre flat for gluing over the bottom one.

13. In this close up you can see how the accents were placed on the page.. some flat to page and some popped up and other shaped .. all this gives the fabulous layers to your page. Below are the other butterflies and clusters for your viewing.

14.  Next I started gluing down the laces.

15. Here is the pleated ribbon border. It held with glue but I used the sewing machine to reinforce it.

16. In this section you can also see the small cluster of flowers with stems and the added tied ribbon bow. Behind you can view the die cut floral all put together.

17. This view showcases the doily, die cut squares, part of the circle and also not the cute brads in the upper left corner.

18. This section showcases the upper right clustered section where I added the title and a very small cluster of flowers with leaf and beads. I also added the bling on sides of the metal accent piece.

19. The last thing I do is add stickles ... then set it aside to dry as to not smudge them.

This is the central photo section where it showcases all the accents around the main photo. Your photo should always stand out over the rest of the page which just accents your page.

"Amazing" is a page for sparkle and shine to go with the costumes. Robin's Nest lines with sparkle and shine are perfect for this group photo. It comes in many shades and colours but the richness of the gold and brown and black and gold with even more plain black were the best layers.

Watering Can Tutorial using Fab Scraps C86 Mother Nature Collection

Hi everyone... Today at Fab Scraps I had fun creating this super cute Watering Can which I created using C86 Mother of Nature Collection.

This super cute little Watering Can was inspired by the blog post below with Rachel Ricks.... with all the info on how to make it and the template. Then you just decorate any way you like.

INSTRUCTIONS:

STEP #1: Creating projects that come with a free template are awesome. They take a bit of time to assemble and then decorate but look so fabulous when done. This watering can started with the template below. I actually printed the pattern direct on the print paper that I sized to 8.5" x11".

STEP #2: Be sure to print on the wrong side.

STEP #3: Hand cut the pieces apart. 

STEP #4: Assemble the pieces gluing firmly and let it dry.

STEP #5:  Now is the decorating the watering can. This is the fun part. Grab lots of your stash accents and decorate to your taste... add a little or a lot.... isn't it adorable. Here are the views of my project from all sides for you to see.

There are so many free templates available allowing you many choices to create fabulous fun projects.

Blue Fern Studio August Challenge using products from The Rubber Buggy

Using products from The Rubber Buggy I was able to create playing along with the Blue Fern Studio 3 Collections + you challenge and used sketch from Let's Get Sketch.

Fab Scrap Double Diamond Card using C88 Floral Dreams Collection

This fabulous card is up at Fab Scraps. It uses C88 Floral Dreams Collection which is elegant and rich in colour. Their are super fun vinyl sticker accents too. Details below.

FOR THIS CARD YOU WILL NEED:
Paper: C88 Floral Dreams Collection 003 Sprinkles, 004 Starlight. C87 Journal in Time 008 Travelogue
Chipboard: DC88 006 Make a Wish
Accent: ST88 001 Fairy Princess Vinyl Stickers
Other: Copic markers, Cardstock, SRM Sticker stitches,


INSTRUCTIONS: STEP
1: Following the pattern instruction sheet below from Castlepark Designs make your card base out of cardstock.

STEP 2: Trim and fold as per instruction sheet above.

STEP 3: Using a paper collection you have so many options to decorate the folded spaces. You can make the pieces an exact fit or do like I do and make them 1/8” smaller on all side to leave a border accent. I love the pop of colour prints with a white cardstock background. (tip – trace a 2nd base and cut these pieces apart and use them to trace the pieces – some pieces are the same identical size just flip them around to fit the space – keep these tracer pieces in an envelope stapled to the pattern sheet for re –using over and over again). The centre one is easier so just mark the paper and cut it.

STEP 4: Using the stencils you made trace and cut the pieces to fit all sections.

STEP 5: Glue the pieces especially careful to get to the edges of each.

STEP 6: This photo shows how your card will stand up.

STEP 7: I copic coloured the chipboard and then matted it with a piece of paper to make it pop. I added some of the vinyl sticker accents to finish the card.

STEP 8: The last accents are the stitch looking SRM stickers. If you have a sewing machine you could stitch on for real.

STEP 9: The card fold down on both sides to fit a large envelope…. Or custom make you own.

Masculine Card at Fab Scraps using C87 Journey in Time Collection

C87 Journey in Time Collection Card for Fab Scraps

Today I am sharing a fun masculine card made for a special friend who turned 92. He would appreciate that it was hand made special for him. 

FOR THIS CARD YOU WILL NEED:

Paper: C87 Journey Collection Card Kit

Accent: Metal Bicycle

Other: Cardstock, twine, black micron pen

INSTRUCTIONS:

STEP 1:  Make your card base out of cardstock. Make a single cardstock base slightly smaller for the front panel to work on.

STEP 2:  Using the card kit pull at least 3 coordinating pattern papers to start your layers. I used a large print background, a smaller box size next and using the border bicycle print cut a strip for the front layer.

Put the 3 layers together and then add the rounds of twine…. before gluing to the main base.

STEP 3: add the metal accent

STEP 4: Using a black pen Doodle adding the lines around the corners of the papers…. some small, some longer and some all the way around. Just this addition of lines adds depth and dimension to the project.

STEP 5: If you like to accent the inside of the card to write the verse on …. Use the matching paper to give a base layer to work on. A touch of doodling is a great finishing touch too.

"Love" Sketches in Thyme & Blue Fern Studio Serendipity from The Rubber Buggy

"Love"  using Sketches in Thyme challenge sketch and Blue Fern Studio Serendipity products from The Rubber Buggy. This combo was rich and elegant and the mix of papers, accents and the great pop using glitter was perfect for my wedding photo.

The sketch design with doilies was perfect and elegant. Subtle background splatter paint, some rubon accents and all the other great accents are amazing on this page.

Feeling Sketchy sketch and Fab Scraps products

Today at Feeling Sketchy I am using their sketch to create this card and my Fab Scraps C87 Journey in Time Collection. Together it is a perfect masculine Birthday card.

FOR THIS CARD YOU WILL NEED:

Paper: C87 Journey in Time Collection and Card Kit 

Other: Cardstock, SRM stickers, twine, brad, micron black pen

Sketch: Feeling Sketchy

INSTRUCTIONS:

STEP #1: Pull all the possible prints of paper you have in mind. Choose an accent from the card kit. I am using a sketch from Feeling Sketchy but you can create using what ever inspires you. I liked this design because of the diagonal design and the tag. 

STEP #2: I started by shaping the diagonal, the tag and a background.

STEP #3: I wanted an added background for more colour and depth and then I pulled the bicycle print to form the diagonal border of bikes. It was a perfect match. I also found the die cut car in the card kit.

STEP #4: I assembled without gluing to be sure I didn't was to add anything else. It was basically what I liked so I put it together. I always work on a singe sheet base and after the card is designed I add the front to the full card base.

STEP #5: By making the single card front to apply to base 1st it allows you to add some accents like the twine wrapped around and the brad ..... both went either around or through the single and make applying to the card base easy.

STEP #6: I added the additional SRM stickers, alpha, sentiment and black pen doodled around the tag. 

This collection is great for travel.. but I am loving it also for some masculine cards that suit so many occasions.  Creating with sketches are always so inspiring.
