Happy Birthday Amy - Card Tutorial with Video

Hi everyone.... Amy is going to have a Birthday and she has challenged us to make a card and share with her how to make it as she would like to learn more about card making. We are not allowed to use a die cut machine as she and many others don't own one. With her stock of laces, trims and accents I thought this was a perfect card for her.

Supply List:
Paper: cardstock
Accents: laces, ribbon, beads, metal accent

Instructions:
#1.  Using the template above as a guide, grab some cardstock... lots of laces, trims and accents.
I like to use a single sheet cardstock to make the front for card and then adhere to card base when done.

#2. Following the template draw the 2" centre square. Using the desk mat with measurements makes doing this easier too. I placed my base piece squaring it up on the points on the squares. Marked my centre and started measuring the square.

#3. Follow the guide and add the extension lines as above so we have lines to follow.

#4. Pull lots of lace, ribbon and trims.

#5. Following the markings start your first row of lace. Start from the corner of square working out the extended line. Glue down firmly.

6. Finish all 4 sides.

#7. Next I did a very fine thin ribbon.. starting the same as first round and do all 4 sides.  Trim off ends as you go along or do them all at the end. Your options.

#8. For this next round I flipped the lace over to have the straight edge out and the overlap over the previous row.

#9. The next round was a very thin string of beads.

#10. I used a wider lace again and a very thin tighter fake bead ribbon on the outer edge.

#11. It very hard to see in this photo but I matted the full front onto a brown cardstock with very little edge showing. It was firmly glued and then glued again and positioned onto the full card base.

#12. The centre can be designed any way you like. Add a metal accent like I did, add a sentiment or and accent you have in your stash.... for any occasion too.

Here is the finished close up to see the fabulous lace, trims and accent. So glad to share this with you.

I made a video for your viewing.

Thanks for stopping by... Happy Birthday early Amy... Hope you enjoy this card design and give it a try soon,
